FFrequently Asked Questions:
What is your teaching style? Teaching is very straightforward and uncomplicated. Students are encouraged to ask questions and are not belittled in any way. Efforts are made continuously to make sure the student understands the material. If something is not working or doesn't make sense, a different approach is taken. Our purpose is to make music enjoyable to learn and play. Music should not be viewed as something intangible and unattainable to all but a select few.
What is your mission? Our mission is:
There is truly no other better teacher who will understand one's tendencies, weaknesses, strengths, etc. then yourself. Do you hold recitals? Yes, recitals are held regularly and are conducted in a professional yet supportive atmosphere. Recitals feature all ages and all playing levels and is not restricted to one genre of music. Students are given the option of playing solo or in chamber groups. Additionally, we have a staff accompanist who accompanies all soloists. How often do you suggest a student takes lessons? For beginning students, we recommend that the student take weekly 30 min. lessons. As the student becomes more advanced, we recommend that the lesson length gradually be increased to weekly 45 min. or 60 min. sessions. How do I go about signing up for lessons? For all incoming students, an in-person meeting/interview is required. This meeting is very informal and is set up for the mutual benefit of both the teacher and the student to address any questions, discuss the program, and ensure there is a good chemistry - an essential component of any successful working relationship.
